Swords and Ravens Forum Rules

1) Be kind and respectful to other players.
Foul language, harassment and other toxic behavior will not be tolerated. If you experience other players who are breaking the rules (flaming for example), please do not do the same. Instead report the players to the staff team.

2) In general, refrain from double posting.
This is unless a reasonable amount of time has passed, and you bring new information to the topic by posting again. If you have additional information recently after your last post, you can just edit that post instead of double posting.

3) Use the correct forum categories.
Familiarize yourself with the different forums here, and try to place your topics in the most appropriate one. If you feel like a section is missing (that should be here), make a post here.

4) Do not spam.
Utilize minimal use of all caps, no advertising or cross-posting.

If you break any of these rules, Moderators have the right to put you in timeout until the issue is resolved, or ban you in cases that are severe. Do not argue with Moderators. Ban and timeout evading is not tolerated.

If you see content on the forums that violates the above rules, please report it to the moderation team for review. You can do so by selecting the “Report” option from any post. If you have any issues, comments, or concerns, reach out to a Moderator.

Swords and Ravens Game Rules

1) Be kind and respectful to other players.
Foul language, harassment and other toxic behavior will not be tolerated. If you experience other players who are breaking the rules (flaming for example), please do not do the same. Instead report the players to the staff team.

2) On general basis, English is the only language allowed in the game chat.
If you wish to host a game in another language, you need to state the language in the game title when creating it. For example: “6 player live game [GERMAN]”.

3) Make sure you have enough time to play.
Plating AGOT live with 6 players can often take more than 6 hours. If you are unsure if you have enough time to play a full live game, make sure to say this in the lobby. Let the other players decide if it is ok for them or not. For example, if everyone agrees to either go pbem after 2 hours, or when you need to go, then that is acceptable.

4) Do your moves as quickly as possible.
AGOT is a long game, and it is in everyone’s interest to finish in a reasonable time. By doing your moves very slowly, you may find yourself limited from joining certain games (where the host has set a speed filter above your speed).

5) Finish all your games and play to the best of your ability.
One of the most important rules for AGOT online gaming. Even if you are losing, be respectful towards your other players and finish your game as well as you can! It is what you would have wanted, if you were winning! Finish with grace.

6) There is a zero-tolerance towards players having several accounts.
If anyone is suspecting players for multi-accounting, report them immediately. Abusing this will result in all accounts affected getting banned permanently.

7) With full conviction, there are no kingmaking rules.
We believe that a player should be able to make almost any move that the game per se allows him to make. Likewise, no one should have the right to force another player to make a certain move, for example to prevent a third player from winning. Anticipate that an opponent may be out for revenge and consider kingmaking as a possible consequence of your actions and adjust your play accordingly, rather than letting a non-existent rule muddy your play.
Furthermore, the introduction of the Mother of Dragons expansion has clearly shown that Kingmaking is a necessary diplomacy factor for House Targaryen, for example, to threaten the eastern houses in Westeros to help a western house win if they do not cease their aggression.

Checkout this interesting talk about that topic:

8) Alliances, on the other hand, may only be formed in the course of the game.
Permanent prearranged alliances can basically be considered multi-accounting and spoil the fun for everyone. They are just unethical and therefore not allowed.

It's planned to add a honor system:

Leaving games (going AFK over a long period of time), will result in you getting kicked from the game, thus getting a lower honour rating.
Your honour will start at 100%, but as you get kicked from games it will go down.
You will experience several limitations, which may include:
- Ability to join new games (cooldown/host setting an honour filter preventing you from joining).
- Amount of games you can join at one time (PBEM).

To clear kicks and increase your honour, you will need to:
- Finish your own games. (slow)
- Help others finish their stalled games, by joining as a replacement player. (faster)
